How Does CMBS™ Work?
Inside the grille of new Honda models, you’ll find radar technology that measures the distance between your car and surrounding vehicles. If obstacles ahead become too close to your car, CMBS™ will begin its three-stage system:
- Stage 1: Visual and audio warnings begin to alert the driver.
- Stage 2: Brakes are lightly applied to reduce speed.
- Stage 3: Brakes are strongly applied to stop the car.
Because CMBS™ works proactively, it’s very likely that most drivers won’t experience stage 3 at all. But in an emergency situation, the system is there to keep you safe.
What Else is Included in Honda Sensing®?
Collision Mitigation Braking System™ is one part of the greater Honda Sensing® system, so what else do you get with your new Honda vehicle? Here are just a few of the state-of-the-art driver assistance systems onboard:
- Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) follows your preset speed when possible, but also slows or brakes the car to keep up with surrounding traffic.
- Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) keeps your car in the middle of lane markers, adjusting steering if needed.
- Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM) sends alerts if you begin to drift out of the lane without signaling.
- Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) reads road signs as you drive through Tri-Cities, displaying the information to you in real-time.
