The markets near Walla Walla and the surrounding Washington area are superb examples of the robust nature of our community. The Downtown Farmers Market in Walla Walla (106 W. Main Street) takes place from 9 am to 1 pm on Saturdays. Fresh cut flowers, artisan knick-knacks, and local produce are just some of the perks. Plus, you have the wonderful shops in Downtown Walla Walla to explore after you’ve had your fill of fresh strawberries and asparagus.
The more expansive Walla Walla Farmers Market (363 Orchard St.) also occurs from 9 am to 1 pm on Saturdays, but it is located on the Walla Walla County Fairgrounds. Fresh smiles accompany the fresh produce at this wonderful, veggie-filled shindig.
An hour west of Walla Walla is Pasco Farmers Market (101-147 S. 4th Ave.), which takes place from 9am to 1pm on Saturdays. For 31-years, the Pasco Farmers Market provides an outlet for Washington’s local farming families to sell their fresh produce directly to consumers. You’ll find hand-crafted products, prepared food, and beverages at PFM—making for a wonderful day trip! To sweeten the pot, you can expect live events.
If you’re down for a lengthy ride to Vancouver, Washington, which is just north of Portland, Oregon, the Vancouver Farmers Market (05 Esther St.) is one of the most eclectic markets in the region. How far away are Vancouver and Portland? Without too much traffic, you should be able to make the drive from Walla Walla to Portland in about four hours. This Saturday and Sunday farmers market in Vancouver goes from the middle of March to the middle of October. Along with fresh produce, you can also expect flowers, plants, baked goods, pet treats, and more! Nearby parks and the Columbia River also make this farmer’s market a little extra scenic and fun. We know from experience that a Saturday trip to Portland, followed by a Sunday trip to Vancouver before heading home to Walla Walla, is a blast.
